Insta 360 One X -Bluetooth Remote - how to update?

I have a notification in the app that there is an update for the Bluetooth remote, but have tried everything and can't update it.
If I go to the update section, it says to connect Bluetooth, so I click on that and it takes me to a page where it says "scan for Bluetooth devices" - after a few seconds it lists my remote, so I highlight it and click "next". After another short wait, it just takes me back to the update page that says "connect Bluetooth"
One of the messages says if you are having trouble, to unlink the Bluetooth remote in the settings of the app. But there isn't an option anywhere to unlink the remote!!!???
I'm on the latest update of the app on my iPad. Thanks for any help as this is driving me nuts. And while I'm here, why does the remote turn off the Insta 360, but not turn it on?? Cheers
