Insta360 1R 1 inch personal experience for photos

For the last five years I've been using a Gopro 4 Silver for taking pictures and making timelapse videos from them of my hikes and bike rides. I also like to save various pictures of interest. I was very excited to find the Insta360 1 R action camera with a 1 inch sensor (the same size as my usual cameras). However, the reality has been somewhat disappointing:

Pros:

1 Picture quality is very good compared to my old gopro.

Cons:

1 Shortest time between taking photos is 3 secs (according to support it's not possible to have shorter times because of writing to the card - my 5 year old Gopro can take a picture every half a second). 3 seconds (its actually longer than this - 15 pictures every minute) is too long, especially when cycling.

2 Can't turn off the annoying shutter sound on its own without turning off all sound. (Something else my old Gopro can do)

3 Each new folder (a new folder is made after every 999 photos) has the same naming convention as the previous one. This means that I can't lump all the photos together when making a timelapse video in Vdub.

4 Doesn't invert the photos when taking pictures with the camera upside down when set to interval mode. (This only seems to happen when the camera starts up in photo interval mode).

5 Have experienced the camera locking up while taking pictures. Because I've had to turn off system sounds (see point 4 above) I have no idea what the camera is doing.

6 SD and USB-C cover comes away from the camera every time I take the card out when in the cradle. Every time! I now leave it off.

7 With every 1000 photos at least 2 are pink.

As you can see, the cons far outweigh the pros. For such an expensive camera, when compared to the price of the Gopro 8, it's very disappointing. I know this is primarily sold as a video camera so I don't hold out much hope that any of my items in the cons list will be rectified. When my old Gopro finally dies I hope there will be a true replacement with a larger sensor.
