external battery power

Since this board is a different layout than most and I don't see a search function to see if this has already been answered, here goes:

New insta360 one r user, just got my camera. Love it so far, despite it's quirks

I like to take extended time lapses, with my GoPro 7 I connect to an external power bank, but in order to use the external power bank for extended sessions, with the GoPro I have to remove the battery and just run off of the external power bank.

Is the same thing true with the One R? Because with One R to mount on tripod the battery pack has to be part of the camera so it can fit in the housing
