long videos, 30 min clip?

My use is creating driving tours. Not knowing what I may want to use I want the camera recording the entire trip, then I can clip what I want later. So, with the camera on a suction mount on the hood of the car I want to be able to record for an hour+. I read that the camera does 30 minute clips, but I assume it immediately starts the next with no gap, and that I just keep driving as long as I have battery. IS that how it works?
