Storm chasing - will the 1 inch work for me?

I REALLY REALLY want to make the 1 inch mod work for my hobby, the low light capability of the 1 inch sensor should blow the competition out of the water...but I have my concerns after reading about a lot of issues.

My setup is a roof mounted gimbal that can be controlled from within the vehicle. I currently use a Gopro Hero 7 with an aluminum cage and power is supplied from gimbal via a waterproof type C cable. The camera is exposed to the elements which includes bright sunshine, driving rain and sometimes hail. I record hours of footage to document the day and usually record in hyperlapse video mode for much of the event until things get really interesting where I then switch to 4K 30fps video.

My corncerns are:

1. Overheating and lockups. The gopro had these issues as well until I used the aluminum cage which acts as an effective heatsink. I would use the Ulanzi metal cage with the hope that it will dissipate enough heat on a hot sunny day.

2. Hyperlapse video mode. Does the Insta360 One R have a hyperlapse video mode that uses stabilization to give a buttery smooth timelapse while moving like the gopro? I would much rather have this in camera then having to record hours of 4/5K video and doing it in post.

3. Video file size. The gopro will shoot continuously and create 4gig files that can be seamlessly stitched in post. I read that the Insta360 creates giant files then has a gap in video while it writes to memory? Can that file size be changed in settings or will a future firmware address this?

4. Enviromental concerns such as driving rain getting past the seals and fogging of lens.

Thanks for any responses.
