Shot Lab Tutorial - Dolly Zoom

Today we’re going to break down how to use ONE R to capture Alfred Hitchock’s signature shot: the dolly zoom, also known as the “Vertigo shot”. By moving the camera in an opposing direction to your zoom, you get an unforgettable and mind-bending effect. Using the ONE R app’s AI-powered Shot Lab feature, you can create Dolly Zoom shots with a single tap. (Note: This template is currently only available on the iOS app)

Step 3:The Shot

(1) While recording, move from close up to far away. The recommended shooting time is 6-8 seconds.

(2) Mount the camera on the selfie stick, extend to a suitable length

(3)Make sure your subject is in the center of the screen.

(4)You can also move from far away to close up.

Step 4: The Edit

(1) Tap "Story"-”Shot Lab"-"Dolly Zoom"

(2)Tap “Use This Theme” and select the clip you want to Dolly Zoom-ify.

(3) Now it’s time to select your subject. You can choose "Free Select", "Face" or "Person".

If your subject is a building or other inanimate object, choose “Free Select” and then place a frame over your desired subject. In general, results will be better if you place your frame around one part of the subject, instead of trying to encompass the entire subject inside of the frame.

If you want to focus mostly on a person’s upper body, then choose the “Face” option for best results.

(4) In our example, we’ll select “Person” as our target subject and then hit the check mark.

(5)The AI will identify key segments. Do not exit during processing. Choose your preferred playback speed.

(6) Select the best effect and tap ”Preview”. Export and share the video with the tag #DollyZoom

Tips:

(1) Please back away from your subject at a constant speed to keep the camera steady.

(2) Try calibrating the gyro if you’re experiencing abnormal rotations or shakes while shooting.

Here’s how to calibrate the gyro.
